Our Services
At Renquist Chiropractic and Acupuncture, we take great pride in providing the finest chiropractic wellness care to our patients. Below is a sampling of the different chiropractic services we offer in our Salem office.
Diversified Manual Technique
This technique is the form of high-velocity, low-amplitude thrust that is traditionally associated with chiropractic manual adjustments. For this method, our goal is restoring normal range of motion in the joint. We position the patient’s body in specific ways to minimize compression and optimize the adjustment of the spine.
Acupuncture
The practice of acupuncture is the stimulation of certain acupuncture points on the human body for the purpose of controlling and regulating the flow and balance of energy in the body. The practice includes the techniques of piercing the skin by inserting needles and point stimulation by the use of acupressure, electrical, mechanical, thermal or traditional therapeutic means.
ArthroStim ®
This instrument capitalizes upon the natural feedback cycle which your nervous system uses to organize itself. It delivers a rapid series of recoiling thrusts to target tissues. This produces movement which in turn, creates a barrage of different impulses - information which your nervous system can use to modify dysfuntional patterns. By utilizing the same mechanisms that your nervous system naturally uses to control biomechanics, corrections can be achieved using reduced forces.
Vibracussor ®
We use this approach to treat your muscle and ligament problems and other related myofascial conditions. The instrument delivers waves of precussive impulses deep into the tissues of your body. It is an effective way to release tension in your muscles. The compression waves promote an increase of cirulation and lymphatic flow which decreases spasm in your muscle. In our practice, we utilize this instead of cupping.
Myofascial Release
We utilize this technique to reduce tension from the fibrous bands of connecting tissue (fascia). This aims to free constrictions or blockages in the fascia, thereby alleviating problems with connective tissue scarring or injury that can lead to chronic muscle pain. Myofascial release therapy utilizes the hands to perform gentle, kneading manipulation that softly stretches, softens, lengthens and realigns fascia.
Thompson Drop Technique
This technique involves specialized treatment tables that have sections that drop a short distance during an adjustment, with the premise that the dropping of the table piece facilitates the movement of the joint. This adjustment approach is sometimes used in addition to or, in place of, diversified techniques. Here, the traditional "cracking sound" may or may not occur and therefore this type of manipulation may also be considered a form of mobilization, or a gentle adjustment approach.
Therapeutic Exercise Instruction
Various home exercises are taught to patients to increase their flexibility, strength, ranges of motion, balance, coordination, proprioception (spatial awareness), and endurance.
Nutritional Assessment
During the initial consultation, a nutritional assessment will be preformed to identify any underlying dysfunction or deficiencies contributing to the a patient's primary concerns.
